Michael B. Jordan and his production company, Outlier Society, are working on their own Black Superman project. This limited series is set to be released on HBO Max and will be centered around the Val-Zod version of the character. A writer at Outlier Society is currently writing a script for the limited series.
It was revealed back in February of this year that a Superman reboot film is in development at Warner Bros. This film is set to be produced by J.J. Abrams and his company Bad Robot, with Ta-Nehisi Coates set to write the script for the film. Unlike the Jordan HBO Max project, this film is expected to be centered around the Kal-El/Clark Kent version of the character. The film will feature a Black Superman, directed by a Black director.
Val-Zod is one of the last Kryptonians of his universe and the second to use the mantle of Superman. Val-Zod became an orphan after his parents were executed by the high court of Krypton.
