Anne Hathaway is eyed to star in Steven Spielberg and Hillary Clinton’s The Woman’s Hour prestige drama at The CW.

The Woman’s Hour is a seasonal anthology series from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, and Warner Bros. Television. The prospective first season of the show will be based on author Elaine Weiss’ critically acclaimed book, “The Woman’s Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote” and will shed light on the ferocious battle to ratify the 19th Amendment, as it follows the activists who led the decades-long fight to grant women the right to vote and sheds light on how close the battle to ratify the 19th Amendment really was. Clinton was involved in the pitch meetings and helped to select writer Angelina Burnett to adapt the novel, and is expected to continue to be closely involved in the series, offering input on decisions including casting and directing.

Actress Anne Hathaway is eyed for a large role in the anthology. It is currently unknown which role she is being eyed for specifically, though it is safe to assume that Hathaway will be playing a series regular role in season 1 as one of the iconic activists who fought for women’s voting rights. Hathaway is known for her roles in movies such as The Dark Knight Rises, Les Misérables, and Interstellar. Hathaway will next star in The Witches, an adaptation of the novel of the same name from director Robert Zemeckis. The film is set to release on the HBO Max streaming service on October 22, 2020, with a theatrical release in select markets on October 28, 2020.

Angelina Burnett is a television writer-producer and community organizer, who most recently served as co-executive producer on AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire. Burnett previously worked on Amblin Television’s The Americans and has also held producing and writing roles for Genius, Hannibal, and Boss.

Hillary Clinton is an American politician, diplomat, lawyer, writer, and public speaker who served as the 67th United States secretary of state from 2009 to 2013, as a United States senator from New York from 2001 to 2009, and as First Lady of the United States from 1993 to 2001. Clinton has appeared in several scripted television series, including; Madam Secretary, Murphy Brown, and Imagine. The Woman’s Hour represents Clinton’s latest TV foray and her debut as an executive producer on a scripted series.
