‘The Umbrella Academy’ Renewed for Season 4 at Netflix

While the third season of The Umbrella Academy is in the middle of production, it looks like Netflix has already greenlit a fourth season of the superhero streaming series.

The Umbrella Academy is a superhero streaming television series created for Netflix by Steve Blackman and developed by Jeremy Slater. It is based on the comic book series of the same name written by Gerard Way. Showrunner Blackman signed an overall output deal with Netflix last year, which could explain how the series has landed an early renewal.

Filming for Umbrella Academy season 3 began on February 7, 2021. Based on how Netflix has announced previous seasons, it is likely that season 4 will be announced during the season 3 premiere, or a few months later. Season 3 of Umbrella Academy is likely to finish production in July 2021, with an estimated release date of March 2022. Umbrella Academy season 4 should also be officially announced around that time.

The show is set in a world where 43 women around the world give birth simultaneously at 12:00 PM on October 1, 1989, despite none of them showing any sign of pregnancy until labor began. Seven of the children are adopted by eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves. He turns the Hargreeves siblings into a superhero team that he calls “The Umbrella Academy.”

The Umbrella Academy cast members include; Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Cameron Britton, Mary J. Blige, John Magaro, Adam Godley, Colm Feore, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, Yusuf Gatewood, Marin Ireland, and Kate Walsh.

I previously revealed that Shadow & Bone has already received a season 2 renewal. This news will be announced during the Netflix Geeked event.
