Sisterhood of Dada
Members of the Sisterhood of Dada are currently being cast for the third season of DC’s Doom Patrol.
The Sisterhood of Dada includes Malcolm (Agent “!”), Shelley Byron (The Frog), Lloyd Jefferson (Frenzy), Holly McKenzie (Sleepwalk), and Sachiko (The Quiz), who will be played by Micah Parker, Wynn Everett, Miles Mussenden, Anita Kalathara, and Gina Hiraizumi respectively.
Malcolm (Agent “!”), who is played by Micah Parker, is a quiet, sensitive, and thoughtful soul who would often rather be invisible than face this unforgiving world. In the comics, Malcolm is also known as Agent “!”. Malcolm is a homeless man dressed in a garish outfit decorated with exclamation marks (possibly referencing his predecessor, the Quiz) drawn back to reveal his chest is actually a gilded cage containing a miniature jet with bird-like feet. Despite his odd appearance, he “comes as no surprise” which allows him and anyone around him to be unnoticed or any attacks made by them to be seemingly out of nowhere.
Shelley Byron (The Fog): Supposedly a deadly terrorist, Shelley is charming, seductive, poetic and a bit mad. In the comics, Byron Shelley (known in the show as Shelley Byron) gained the ability to turn into a psychedelic death cloud capable of absorbing people. The people he absorbed could still communicate, and the voices started to drive him mad.
Lloyd Jefferson (Frenzy): A sculptor of strange life-like masks who is covered with tattoos and scars – the memories and injustices that immortalize his life – he is cryptic and stoic with a capacity for extreme devastation. Lloyd Malcolm Jefferson was an illiterate man in the comics, whose mother had abandoned him. He wore a garish outfit covered with symbols, a top hat with a green flower, and two bicycle wheels on his back. He could turn into a living cyclone.
Holly McKenzie (Sleepwalk): A light-hearted ne’er do well, Holly knows where the best parties are. After a wild night of partying, she usually takes a nice long nap in the ice cream truck where she works, and if she is awoken mid-nap, there is hell to pay. Holly McKenzie was a British girl who had tremendous strength in the comics, but only when she was asleep. To avoid waking, she took sleeping pills and wore headphones that played Barry Manilow. She had the outlines of two faces painted around her eyes.
Sachiko (The Quiz): She is an enigmatic germaphobe whose crippling phobias mask awe-inspiring powers. A Japanese woman with a fear of dirt, The Quiz had every power you hadn’t thought of. To make her lose a power, you had to think it. Whether the power loss is permanent or how long it lasts is not revealed. Because of her fear of dirt, she wore a long gown/gas mask that was decorated with question marks similar to the Riddler’s outfit. The powers she exhibited were: flight, mimicking appearances, turning people to glass, turning back time, dematerialization, making things large, turning people into toilets filled with flowers, and manifesting escape-proof spirit jars.
Dead Boy Detectives
Madalyn Horcher plays Crystal Palace, a cool, sarcastic teen who is also a psychic medium, her only friends are Charles and Edwin, the two dead boys who freed her from demonic possession.
Tennant will Edwin Payne who has been dead since 1916. Edwin spent 80 years in hell due to a “clerical error” and has seen horrors no one could imagine. In the comics, Edwin Paine was murdered at his boarding school in 1916, after which he went to Hell, where he was stalked by an unseen menace through a long corridor for several decades.
Sebastian Croft portrays Charles Rowland, who is described as affable, charming, and dead since 1989, he always does his best to be chipper, but his death by hypothermia and neglect haunts him. In the comics, Charles Rowland was the sole living student at the school during the previously mentioned events, as all the other students had gone home for the holidays.
Doom Patrol Season 3 Production Status
In September 2020, the series was renewed for a third season exclusively on HBO Max. A few months later in March, it was revealed that Michelle Gomez had been cast as Madame Rouge in the upcoming third season. The character of Madame Rouge was described as a complicated and electrifying eccentric who arrives at Doom Manor with a very specific mission, if only she could remember it
The third season started production on the 4th of January, 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia. In a recent interview with Matt Bomer, Bomer revealed that production on season 3 was “about halfway” done. You can read the full quote below:
So, we’re about halfway through season three now. All I can say, and I sound like a broken record when I say this, but it’s true: the writers have somehow found a way to outdo themselves. While still keeping it in the world of the piece, the characters are all going through these circumstances that are somehow hilarious, absurdist, mildly outlandish and grounded at the same time. I’m really excited for what Larry has in store this season. What he’s experiencing on the show is really unique and so fun to get to play. I think it’s true to his character, and I hope the fans of the show enjoy it.
Doom Patrol is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, with Jeremy Carver, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Chris Dingess, and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers. The series is based on characters created for DC by Arnold Drake, Bob Haney, and Bruno Premiani.
