Per Cinelinx, Lovecraft Country’s Misha Green will be developing a Jurnee Smollett-led Black Canary project for Warner Bros.
It is currently unclear if this project will be an HBO Max series, or if it will be a feature film. While one source told Cinelinx that there is a Black Canary “project” in development, another source was more specific in that they were adamant the project had become a movie that would (likely) follow on from the events in Birds of Prey.
Assuming that this project is indeed a film, we will still have to wait and see to learn if this film will be distributed through HBO Max, and;/or if it will have a theatrical release.
Additionally, WB is primed to give the project (and Misha Green’s involvement) an official announcement by this year’s DC FanDome in October.
Less than two months ago, we learned that HBO was not moving forward with its Lovecraft Country series, which starred Jurnee Smollett in the lead role, with Misha Green as its showrunner.
