‘Halo:’ Jen Taylor Set To Replace Natascha McElhone As Cortana In Showtime Series

Natascha McElhone has been replaced by Jen Taylor as Cortana in Showtime’s Halo series.

Natascha McElhone has been replaced by Jen Taylor as Cortana, IGN has learned.

McElhone was originally set to play both Cortana and her creator, Dr. Catherine Halsey. Due to scheduling conflicts caused by the coronavirus, Taylor will now be taking over the role of Cortana. Jen Taylor is known for voicing Cortana in the Halo game franchise, so her reprising her role as Cortana on the television series now only makes sense. It is worth noting that McElhone will still be playing the role of Catherine Halsey in the series.

Halo is an upcoming live-action science fiction television series based on the Halo franchise on Showtime. The series will focus on the 26th-century war between the United Nations Space Command and the alien Covenant. You can read the series synopsis below:

An epic 26th-century conflict between humanity and an alien threat known as the Covenant. Halo will weave deeply drawn personal stories with action, adventure and a richly imagined vision of the future.

The series is set to be written, executive produced, and showrun by Kyle Killen, with Steven Kane as co-showrunner. It was originally announced that executive producer Rupert Wyatt was set to direct several episodes of the first season, though Wyatt has since stepped down as a director and executive producer due to scheduling issues that arose out of production delays. The cast consists of; Pablo Schreiber, Yerin Ha, Natascha McElhone, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Bentley Kalu, Natasha Culzac, Kate Kennedy, and now, Jen Taylor.

Principal photography began in October 2019. Previously, I revealed that Showtime’s Halo show temporarily moved production to Ontario, Canada, and that Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout has joined the production. The series is scheduled to premiere in the first quarter of 2021.
