Rege-Jean Page Set to Star in ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ at Paramount

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bridgerton star Rege-Jean Page has been cast in the upcoming Dungeon & Dragons movie from Paramount. While it is currently unknown which character Page will be playing, it’s known that he has been cast in a leading role alongside Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, and Justice Smith. Regé-Jean Page is a British-Zimbabwean actor, who is known for starring in the Netflix period drama Bridgerton as Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings.

Game Night’s Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are set to direct the film, with Jeremy Latcham and Brian Goldner producing. Goldstein and Daley also wrote the latest version of the script based on a previous draft by Michael Gilio. Hasbro/eOne and Paramount are jointly producing and financing, with eOne distributing in the U.K. and Canada, and Paramount distributing in the rest of the world.

It is currently not known whether the movie adaptation will be a fantasy film set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons, or if the film is set in the real world and follows a Dungeons & Dragons campaign. This film isn’t the only Dungeons & Dragons project in the works, as it was recently revealed that John Wick creator Derek Kolstad was working on a Dungeons & Dragons television series for EntertainmentOne.

Dungeons & Dragons is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game originally designed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson. In 2004, D&D remained the best-known, and best-selling, role-playing game in the US, with an estimated 20 million people having played the game, and more than 1 billion dollars in book and equipment sales worldwide.
