According to Deadline, The CW is currently working on a series centered around the character of Yara Flor, Wondergirl.
Written by Rodriguez, Wonder Girl centers on Yara Flor, a Latina Dreamer who was born of an Amazonian Warrior and a Brazilian River God, learns that she is Wonder Girl, and with her newfound power must fight the evil forces that would seek to destroy the world. The series tells the backstory/origin story of the DC Comics character of Yara Flor, who was recently revealed as a new Wonder Woman. In addition to the Future State Wonder Woman with adult Yara Flor as Wonder Woman, DC is concurrently publishing the Wonder Girl comic series written and drawn by Joëlle Jones. For fans looking to learn more about Yara before her possible live action debut, they’ll get their first glimpse of the hero in Future State: Wonder Woman, which debuts as a part of DC Future State in January and February, 2021. That miniseries features an older Yara after she’s inherited the Wonder Woman mantle from Diana Prince.
The CW series will focus on Yara as she’s younger. Dailyn Rodriguez is set to be the showrunner of the series, with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden executive producing. Berlanti Productions produces in association with Warner Bros. Television.
Wonder Girl joins Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Black Lightning, Batwoman, Superman & Lois, and Legends of Tomorrow in The CW’s Arrowverse. Upcoming seasons of Arrowverse shows include; The Flash season 7, Supergirl season 6, Black Lightning season 4, Batwoman season 2, Superman & Lois season 1, and Legends of Tomorrow season 6.
