Zack Snyder’s ‘Army of The Dead’ Set To Release on May 21

Zack Snyder’s upcoming Army of The Dead film is set to be released on the 21st of May, on Netflix.

Army of the Dead is an upcoming zombie heist film. The cast consists of; Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana de la Reguera, Garret Dillahunt, Raúl Castillo, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tig Notaro, and Matthias Schweighöfer. Army of The Dead is directed by Zack Snyder. Snyder, Shay Hatten, and Joby Harold penned the script. You can read the movie’s synopsis below:

Director Snyder announced in a tweet that the film will be released on the 21st of May. Additionally, Snyder revealed that a teaser will be released on the 25th. The tweet also included a new promotional image. You can view the tweet below:

The film was originally announced to be a direct sequel to Dawn of the Dead, with Matthijs van Heijningen Jr. set to direct. After a decade of development hell, a reworked version of the project was announced after Netflix acquired the distribution rights to the project from Warner Bros. Zack Snyder was shortly announced to be directing the film. after lingering in development Hell for a number of years, Netflix acquired the distribution rights to the project from Warner Bros. with Zack Snyder directing.

In September 2020, it was announced that a prequel film and an anime television series are in development to expand the franchise. The anime will be titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas and will center around some of the characters from Army of the Dead during the early phases of the zombie outbreak. Matthias Schweighöfer will star in, and direct the prequel film, which began development in October 2020 and is reportedly titled “Army of The Dead – Meanwhile in… Germany.”

Army of The Dead has a reported budget of $90 million. Production began on July 15, 2019, in Los Angeles, California, and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
