I have learned that Star Trek: Lower Decks has been renewed for third and fourth seasons by CBS All Access.
The latest Star Trek series coming from CBS All Access is Star Trek: Lower Decks, an animated series. The last Star Trek cartoon we got before Lower Decks was around 50 years ago, with Star Trek: The Animated Series. I think that Lower Decks is an amazing show with a start that’s stronger than that of any other Star Trek series. It deconstructs the Star Trek formula well and while not everyone joke lands, I enjoy watching it and find it funny.
Star Trek: Lower Decks, like all other Star Trek shows made by CBS All Access, released with mixed reviews. I have personally enjoyed all of “New Trek” and I don’t understand most of the problems people have with these shows, but oh well. I’ve met lots of Star Trek fans who, for some reason, thought Lower Decks would get canceled after its first two-season order because it’s animated and Alex Kurtzman isn’t really involved with it. I guess I kind of understand why they think that, but I bet they are very happy to hear that Lower Decks is, in fact, not canceled. I have learned that CBS All Access has decided to give Lower Decks another two-season order, which means Lower Decks is set to have at least 4 seasons.
If you have been following me for a while, you are probably not surprised by the fact that CBS had decided to renew it for two seasons and not one. As of today; Star Trek: Discovery, Section 31, Strange New Worlds and Lower Decks have all gotten two-season orders.
The third episode of Lower Decks, titled “Temporal Edict” will be released today and I can’t wait to watch it. I recommend you watch the first two episodes if you like Star Trek.
